Mission
Create a brand identity for a seafood restaurant on the water in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. The logo needed to establish a luxurious feel that echoed the feeling of the sparkling waters edge where the restaurant resides. Due to the restaurants focus on fresh and seasonal offerings, the menu need to follow the branding but be easily updated by the management to offer a changing menu to offer truly local cuisine.
When I think of restaurants by the ocean, I see fresh seafood, the deep blue ocean with the sun reflecting the sparkling water, with waves of bright turquoise and teals. It made sense that a teal foil swatch would be the basis of this restaurant’s identity. The logo also needed a distinctive debossed serif typeface to echo the luxurious setting.
Design
Menu design came from my personal experience where our menus were updated at least once each season, and then a couple of times through the season. This meant costly changes from a design and print perspective. With that in mind, I designed the menu so that it could be altered but still kept the branding with a 1/4 of the page in the logo of the jellyfish. It could be printed in-house and replaced easily without losing the quality and branding.
